Fancy Dress Tips

Hello!

So today I had to dress up for a fancy dress party and that got me thinking:

In my house, my parents barely ever bought us costumes, so we had to find other ways to look good...

1. You can find ANYTHING on google
If you can use plain t-shirts and trousers to create a base layer, then print off any features of your character and pin them on to your clothes or make a mask.

2. Work around what you have
Today I went as a minion from Despicable Me (Stuart actually) because I happened to have jeans, a yellow t-shirt and a mask... Think about potential characters and then think about your wardrobe, come to a decision that way.

3. Judge how serious you need to be
If you are going to a friend you suggested that you two should dress up for fun, don't turn up in a full tailored costume (if anything it will ruin the jokey, fun side); If you are performing etc then your costume will need to be more durable and realistic than if you are going out to a jokey party... Think about what the other guests might come as and whether you need to look great... if necessary text the host to O.K. the outfit so as not to offend them.

And Lastly
4. Try not to get an image in your head/ BE REALISTIC
It is hard but, try not to have a perfect image in your head. You're bound to be disappointed with a homemade costume if you imagined a professional-looking costume!
That one is fairly obvious, but I think it is important...

Good Luck and enjoy!

P.S.  What do u want to see next on this blog???
